Who we are: Look Twice is published by Essby Fintech Innovations Private Limited, trading as VybePlay Games ("VybePlay Games", "we", "us").
Where this policy lives: https://play.vybepay.com/look-twice/privacy
This policy covers the Look Twice app on Android and iPhone (app id com.vybeplay.spot3d) and the game server it talks to. It explains what we collect, why, who else receives it, how long we keep it, and how you can delete it. If you have a question, write to us at support@vybepay.com.
The short version
- Look Twice is a one-player game that plays offline. You do not need to give us your name, email address or phone number to play.
- We keep your game progress on our server so it is safe and the results are fair. If you choose to sign in with Google Play Games or Apple Game Center, it can follow you to a new phone.
- Ads are shown by Google AdMob and its partners. Where the law gives you a choice about ads, we ask first, and you can change your answer later in the app.
- We use Google Firebase to understand how the game is played and to fix crashes.
- Purchases go through Google Play or the App Store. We never see your card or payment details.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see "Deleting your data").
What we collect, and why
A random install ID
When you first open the app, it creates a random identifier for that installation. It has no name, email or phone number attached. The app sends it to our server to keep your progress, to receive the game's settings, and (when we compare two versions of a setting) to place your install in one group of that comparison. The date you installed the app is sent with it for the same reason.
Your progress and cloud save
Our server keeps your game record with your install ID and, if you sign in, your platform account (below):
- the levels and daily levels you have finished, your best stars and times for each level, your XP, rank and title, the frames you have unlocked;
- your badges and their progress;
- your hints and rescues, the free hint and rescue timers, and the daily gift calendar;
- your daily streak and the bonus packs and seasonal levels you have opened;
- whether you have bought Remove Ads, and which purchases have already been credited;
- for each finished level, the details needed to check the result is fair: how long it took, wrong taps, hints and rescues used and when, whether a video was watched for them, and your phone's calendar day and time-zone offset (used only for the daily gift, the free daily rescue and a few badges that depend on the time of day).
We also keep the day we last saw your install, so that a guest record with nothing in it can be erased (see "How long we keep it").
We use this to run the game, to keep your progress safe, to restore it on a new phone if you sign in, and to make sure results are fair before they count.
Google Play Games or Apple Game Center (optional)
Signing in is optional and never required to play. The game offers it in Settings and after Level 5: Google Play Games on Android, Apple Game Center on iPhone. If you sign in, the app sends our server proof of that sign-in from Google or Apple, and we receive your platform player ID and your platform display name. We keep them with your game record, linked to it, so the same progress, stars, badges and purchases follow you to another phone or a reinstall. They are deleted when you delete your data. We never receive your email address or your password.
If your phone is signed in to Google Play Games, Google may sign you in to the game automatically when it opens; we link that account to your game record only after you agree to our Terms.
When you are signed in, the game's badges and leaderboard standings are mirrored to Play Games or Game Center achievements and leaderboards. There, your platform display name may be shown to other players, according to the settings of your Play Games or Game Center account, which Google or Apple control.
Without signing in you play as a guest: your progress is kept on our server under your install ID, but it cannot be moved to a new phone.
Your country
- What. The country of your Google Play or App Store account (a two-letter code such as "BR"), which the store tells the game. We never work it out from your IP address or your location. If the store does not say, none is kept. If your store country changes, the new one replaces it.
- Why. To show your country beside your display name on the leaderboards, and to place you on your country's leaderboard.
- Who sees it. Other players, on the leaderboards, together with your display name, title and stars, unless you hide it.
- Your choice. Settings lets you hide your country at any time. Hidden, it is shown to no one and you are on no country leaderboard; this is also how you object to this use of it. We keep the code with your game record so the leaderboards can show it again if you change your mind.
- Legal basis. Providing the game you asked for (its leaderboards) and our legitimate interest in leaderboards by country, weighed against your rights; the hide switch above is your way to object.
- How long. With your game record, until you delete your data (Delete my data in Settings removes it with everything else).
Your display name, leaderboards and friends challenges
- Display name. You can choose a name of 2 to 20 characters. If you do not choose one, we use your Play Games or Game Center display name if you have signed in, or a name such as "Player 1234". Names with offensive words are refused or replaced with a name of that kind.
- Leaderboards. The weekly and all-time leaderboards show other players your display name, title, stars and total time, and your country unless you hide it.
- Friends challenges. When you send a challenge, we create a link that carries your display name, title, the level, and your stars and time on it. Anyone you share the link with can see these. When a friend plays your challenge, their display name, stars and time are kept with the challenge and shown to you.
We do not have chat, friend lists, voice, or photo sharing.
Purchases
Purchases are made through Google Play or the App Store under their own terms and privacy policies. The app sends our server the store's receipt so we can check the purchase and credit it to your account (and credit it only once). We keep which product was bought and a one-way hash of the store's transaction ID. We never receive your card number, bank details or billing address. "Restore purchases" asks the store again for what you bought before.
Advertising
Ads are served by Google AdMob, with Unity Ads and InMobi taking part through AdMob mediation. We show banner ads, ads between levels, and videos you choose to watch for a reward. These companies may collect information from your device, such as its advertising identifier, IP address (from which an approximate location can be worked out), device model and system, and how you interact with ads. They use it to show, measure and, where you allow it, personalise ads, as their own policies describe:
- Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Unity: https://unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy
- InMobi: https://www.inmobi.com/privacy-policy
Your choices:
- Consent where the law requires it. In places whose data protection laws require consent for ads (for example, under European data protection law), Google's consent form appears when you first open the game, before any ad is requested. If you say no, you can still play, and you see ads that are not personalised.
- Privacy choices. Where these laws apply, a Privacy choices row in Settings lets you see and change your answer at any time.
- On iPhone, Apple asks whether Look Twice may track you. Ads are personalised only if you allow it, and you can change this at any time in your iPhone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (Google → Ads, or Privacy → Ads).
- Remove Ads (a purchase) stops banner ads and ads between levels. Videos that you choose to watch for a reward stay available.
Ads in Look Twice are limited to content suitable for teens, and categories such as gambling, dating, alcohol and politics are blocked.
Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the game is played: for example, levels started and finished, hints and rescues used, videos watched, ads shown, and purchases made. These events are tied to a Firebase app-instance ID and, on Android where you have not turned it off, your device's advertising ID. Where the law requires consent and you have said no, Firebase is told not to use ad identifiers for this.
We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to find and fix crashes. A crash report includes the device model, system version, app version, a Crashlytics installation ID and what the app was doing when it crashed.
Both run in a Firebase project used only by Look Twice. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Server logs
Like any web server, ours records each request's IP address, time and path, to keep the service running and secure.
Notifications
Look Twice sends at most two notifications a day, never at night (21:00 to 09:00 your time):
- Reminders scheduled on your phone, for example that the daily level is ready, a streak is about to end or a gift is waiting. Nothing about them is sent to our server, except how many the app showed today, so that the total stays within the daily limit.
- Notifications from our server, sent through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: new levels each week (one message to everyone who plays in your language), and an event starting or ending or a reward waiting for you. For these the app registers with our server your device's push token, your phone system, the game's language, your time-zone offset, the kinds you switched off and when you last opened the game. We use them only to send these notifications at a sensible local hour, and we stop sending them after 30 days away.
You can turn each kind off in Settings in the game, or all of them in your phone's settings. Which notifications are opened is measured, to improve them.
Kept only on your phone
Your settings (language, sound, haptics, notifications), downloaded levels, and results that have not reached our server yet stay on your phone. Uninstalling the app removes them.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your email address, phone number, contacts, photos, microphone or camera, or precise location.
Why we are allowed to use it
Where the law asks us to name a legal basis, we rely on:
- providing the game you asked for (your progress, cloud save, purchases, leaderboards and challenges);
- our legitimate interests in keeping the game working, fair and secure, and in improving it (server logs, crash reports, analytics, fair-play checks), and in showing your store country on the leaderboards (you can object by hiding it in Settings), weighed against your rights;
- your consent, where the law requires it, for personalised ads and for storing or reading information on your device for ads. You can withdraw it at any time in Privacy choices or your phone's settings.
Who else receives data
Only these service providers, and only for the purposes above:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Firestore, Cloud Logging) | Our game server, storage and logs |
| Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging) | Analytics, crash reports and notifications |
| Google AdMob, Unity Ads, InMobi | Ads |
| Google Play and Apple App Store | Purchases, app delivery, and rating prompts |
| Google Play Games and Apple Game Center | Optional sign-in, achievements and leaderboards |
They may use the data only to provide their service to us, or as their own privacy policies describe. Other players see only what is listed under "Your country" (unless you hide it) and "Your display name, leaderboards and friends challenges", and, if you sign in, what Play Games or Game Center show under your platform settings.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising except through the ad networks above, under the choices you have made.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect players or the game from fraud or abuse, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business (in which case this policy continues to apply to it).
Where data is processed
Our server and storage run on Google Cloud, and our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Our game server and its storage run in Google Cloud's us-central1 region, in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
| Data | Kept |
|---|---|
| Your game record on our server (progress, stars, badges, inventory, purchases credited, display name, your store country, and your platform player ID and display name if you signed in) | Until you delete it |
| A guest record with nothing to keep (no progress, no purchase, no sign-in) | Erased 60 days after we last saw it |
| Push registration (device token, language, time-zone offset, notification switches) | Until you delete your data, or the token stops working |
| Leaderboard rows | Until you delete your data; a weekly row counts only for its week |
| Friends challenges you sent or played | Until you delete your data; they are deleted with it |
| One-way hash of purchase transaction IDs | Kept, so a purchase cannot be credited twice |
| Server request logs | 30 days |
| Firebase Analytics events | 14 months |
| Crashlytics reports | 90 days |
| Data on your phone | Until you uninstall the app |
How we protect it
- Every connection between the app and our server is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Our storage can be reached only by the game server and our administrators.
- We keep as little as the game needs, and nothing that names you unless you sign in with a platform account or choose a name.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you, and the authorities, about a breach where the law requires it.
Deleting your data
- In the app: Settings → Delete my data, then confirm. This erases, at once, your game record on our server — progress, stars, badges, hints and rescues, display name, leaderboard rows, friends challenges and the link to your Play Games or Game Center account — and the app starts fresh. Hints and rescues you bought are lost with it. Remove Ads can be brought back afterwards with Restore purchases in Settings, because the store keeps a record of that purchase.
- Without the app: email support@vybepay.com with the subject "Look Twice data deletion", and include the player ID shown in Settings (or your display name if you can no longer open the game). The same steps are on our data-deletion page, https://play.vybepay.com/look-twice/delete. We will confirm and delete within 30 days.
Signing out in Settings also removes the link between your game record and your Play Games or Game Center account. Achievements and leaderboard entries already held by Google or Apple are managed in their own apps and settings.
After deletion we keep only what is listed as kept above (such as hashed purchase IDs), data held by Google Play or the App Store under their own obligations, and analytics and crash data under Firebase's retention. Uninstalling the app deletes everything stored on your phone, but not your record on our server.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, to take it with you, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right not to be treated differently for using these rights. To use any of them, email support@vybepay.com. We will answer within the time the law sets (usually 30 days) and may need to confirm the request comes from you. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Look Twice is made for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Ads are limited to content suitable for teens. If we learn that a child under 13 has given us personal data, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has done so, email support@vybepay.com and we will delete it promptly. Where a higher age applies for consent in your country or region, a parent or guardian must agree for a younger player.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the effective date at the top. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app before it applies.
