Court Piece is the four-player, two-partnership trick-taking game played across North India and Pakistan under many names — Rang, Rung, Hokm, Coat Piece, Kot Pees — and Rung Royal plays every house rule you have argued about: Single Sir, Double Sir, Hidden Rung, Be-Ranga, and Mendikot.

Why "Rung Royal"?

Rung (रंग) is the trump suit — the colour that outranks every other card once it is called. Calling the rung is the moment the hand turns, and it is the word every table shouts. Royal is the deck: the court cards are painted as a Mughal-era family, kings and queens in real textiles, on a hand-illustrated deck made for this app. Rung Royal, then, is "the trump, painted royal".
